Describe more than the steepest point
A slope-mowing enquiry should explain the entire working area, including entrances, changes in gradient and the space available around obstacles. A single photograph taken from above may hide the shape of the ground. Provide several views and identify where each was taken.
Record whether measurements are expressed in degrees or percentage gradient. These are different units and must not be compared as if they were the same. If a measurement is uncertain, label it as an estimate rather than presenting it as a confirmed operating condition.
Ask for configuration-specific limits
Manufacturer slope figures apply to particular machines and conditions. They are not a universal guarantee for every surface. Wet vegetation, loose ground and changes in terrain can affect traction and stability. Use the operator manual for the selected model to establish the permitted operating conditions.
Ask the supplier which configuration the quoted rating covers and what restrictions accompany it. Do not transfer a rating from another manufacturer’s video or a visually similar machine to the model you intend to buy.
Plan the project before deployment
Include access, transport, operator training and site assessment in the project brief. Note nearby roads, water, structures and pedestrian areas so these can be considered in the working plan. A remote transmitter does not remove the need for a suitable operator position and controlled work area.
Send AC Machinery the site description and available measurements when discussing a mower. This article is a purchasing checklist; it does not replace the machine-specific instructions for operating on slopes.
